We often hear accordionists complaining that there are not enough music and books for the accordion. In comparison with other instruments like the violin and piano, the accordion is a "young" instrument and does not have a long history, so does not have a big original repertoire. However in the 20th century more and more composers are paying attention to the accordion as a professional solo instrument, and the original repertoire is gradually increasing. You can read in almost every AWW news about new publications of books or musical albums! This is great to see. We also receive many emails from people who are looking for a particular style of accordion music. We suggest you to check the "Music Publishers" section in the Yellow Pages and contact them directly for any help you require. Wayne Knights Webmaster |

Accordion duo "Samsonite and Delight-Ya" (Botielus and Cybele) have just released a CD single entitled "Y2Kymca.com" a parody of the hit "YMCA". They sequenced all the backing music (so it sounds almost like the original disco hit) and added funny Y2K lyrics, sound effects and of course the accordion. The humorous lyrics send a message of all the possible things that may happen when the new year comes. Interestingly "Botielus" gained his name when he couldn't find his bow tie for work one day! The duo are known as "the Cheesiest Accordion Duo in Portland" (USA) because they play TV theme songs, rock songs and a selection of most other types of music, and fling free slices of cheese to audience members who correctly guess the song they play! (Each cheese slice is actually a business card, because their contact information is on each slice). For further information email: botielus@teleport.com |
