EDITORS NOTE |
Welcome to the Christmas edition of the Weekly News, also the last for 1998. The past year has seen what I believe to be the start of a surge in popularity for the accordion, with it now being featured in many more forms of music worldwide. Particularly pleasing is the accordion's increased performances with other instruments, as well as rock and pop music. Let's make the trend continue in 1999! The Accordion Yellow Pages are now available as an online database in German and French languages in the same format as the English Yellow Pages. This is the largest directory for accordion information in the world. This new system allows you to search more easily for detailed reports. Free listings are available for everyone! The DPA (Deutsche Presse Agentur) included this article in the November 27th issue of Wormser Zeitung newspaper. The manufacturer of Hohner musical instruments wants to stabilise its business after overcoming a crisis. The number of staff of almost 500 in the group of companies and around 230 in the corporation shall not be reduced further. In the fiscal year 1997/98 the turnover fell five per cent to DM 157.2 million. The publishing company with DM 1.5 million turnover will be sold to the Mainzer Schott-Gruppe by the end of the year.
