Send us the latest accordion news from your country
One of the best things about playing the accordion is the friendly people that you meet in all parts of the world. When you are travelling internationally, Accordions Worldwide can help in a number of ways; you can browse through the Yellow Pages to find out about any events happening in the area of your visit, restaurants that have accordionists performing there, and lists of accordionists that live there. What a great way to make new friends (or even look up some old ones)!

Accordionist Henry Doktorski has just finished his first recording
session with the Duquesne University Chamber Ensemble of Gershwin's
compositions, including Rhapsody in Blue.
Henry believes "the Rhapsody has been performed many times with
accordion, but the most amazing performance using accordion instead of
piano was the very first radio broadcast of The Rhapsody in 1924!"
The Rhapsody has become a staple of the accordion repertoire, and it has
inspired other composers to write works for accordion and orchestra.
The CD is scheduled for release on Gershwin's 100th birthday, September
26th, 1998. For further information email: free-reed@trfn.clpgh.org
My uncle is missing, and I need help finding him before my
grandmother dies.
In one of his most recent letters (winter of 1996) from Clinton
Township, MI, my uncle (James E. Arnold) talks about going to
a store that claims to be the "world's largest accordion"
dealer someplace near him. I'm assuming this means the Detroit
area or someplace over the border into Canada. He wrote about
having extensive conversations about restoring his childhood
accordion with the owner of this shop. So I'm hoping that
this owner might be able to help us track down where he went.
As someone in the industry, I am hoping that you might know what
store my uncle may likely have visited. If anyone knows of
such a place, or any music dealer that makes such a claim, I would
appreciate a reply to: rwc@stans.com
On the off chance that you might have seen him, I have included
a photo of my Uncle.
Thanks,
