The
White Heron Children's Accordion Orchestra played the musical play
called "Happy Doe Re Mi" at the opening ceremony of Si Ming
District Intermediate and Primary Schools Art Festival in late April

"The Sound of Music", the arrangement written by Gary
Daverne, who generously gave the music to his accordion friends
from Xiamen Si Ming Children's Palace in 2002, when he was visiting
the area with New
Zealand Accordion Orchestra North Shore Musicale
. It was his wish to support local accordion activities and this arrangement
is being used regularly.

Paris-Moscow
Duo Tour - Switzerland
The
Paris-Moscow
Duo were in Switzerland last week where they were invited to play
Bulle (Gruyère area). Part of the duo's
tour included an afternoon teaching the origins of accordion to young
schoolboys who were not musicians. Their first concert in Switzerland
was in front of approximately 400 school pupils after which they played
for 500 school pupils in L'accueil.
"It was very cordial and the young people were surprised and
very glad to rediscover this instrument in a varied program (classical
music, continuations for children, music for imagination, russian
and french music)," said Paris-Moscow
Duo member Domi
Emorine. That evening, they gave a public concert for local citizens
of Switzerland and France. "It was a very appreciated concert
from a particularly cordial Swiss public," said Emorine.
Part of that evening's performance included an appearance by Lucia
Genilloud, a 13 year-old Swiss student who lives in Bulle. Lucia was

New Los
Tigres Del Norte Song Features Accordion - Mexico
The new song, "Las Mujeres de Juarez" (The Women
of Juarez) by Los Tigres Del Norte is one more bouncy track on the
album "Pacto de Sangre" (Fonovisa) just released by this
Mexican band. The song in Norteño (Tex-Mex) style features
two accordions tootling back and forth. The song is about the murders
of more than 300 girls and women during the past decade in the border
region of El Paso. The song highlights the failure to find those responsible,
a "national shame" for Mexico. Los Tigres del Norte have
been singing border stories - about emigrants, drug dealers, hard
times and love - for more than three decades.
