Successful Music Seminar in Barisciano - Italy
From
July 29th to August 2nd in Barisciano (AQ), a large number of participants
sealed the success of this year's "Modern Music Workshops",
organized by the "Amadeus" Academy and the "Associazione
Contemporanea" and directed by Luigi Candelori and Toni Fidanza.

Ruggieri was joined by Ellade Bandini (drums), Gianluca Caporale
(saxophone), Luigi Candelori (guitar), Toni Fidanza (piano) and
Marco Di Natale (bass).
A number of accordion students performed at
the final concert much to the delight of the audience.

New Recording Contract for Accordionist - USA
American
concert accordionist Henry Doktorski has signed a contract with
Bridge Records, Inc., of New Rochelle, New York, to authorize them
to release a double compact disc of his recently completed recordings
of the complete works of the great vaudeville accordionist, composer,
recording artist and educator, Guido Deiro (1886-1950). The anthology,
consisting of over 145 minutes of music, is scheduled to be released
in November 2003, and will include extensive liner notes with a
detailed biography of the composer and many photographs.
Bridge Records, Inc., is a well-known internationally-distributed
label specializing in classical and early twentieth-century American
popular music.
Doktorski said, "It has been almost
2½ years to the day when I first met Guido Deiro's son, Count
Guido Roberto Deiro, at the March 2001 accordion recital at CUNY
Graduate Center and he commissioned me to record the complete works
of his father".
The CD's will include a variety of tracks such
as "Temperamental Rag", "Royal Flying Corps March"
and "Light & Shadow Waltz".

Marble Palace Concert - Russia
On
September 16th, accordionist Sergej
Tchirkov performed with "Raduga-Ensemble" (Amsterdam,
Netherlands), the only Dutch chamber orchestra that consists of
women musicians. The concert was a part of the "Femina Music
Festival" (Women in Music) and included music by Dutch and
Petersburg women composers.
Tchirkov was invited to join the orchestra for
a performance of the concerto "Formula of Spring" (2001),
composed by Sofya Levkovskaya for accordion, bells, trumpet and
string orchestra. The concert took place in the Marble Palace, St.
Petersburg and was conducted by (Jeroen Vejerink (Netherlands).

Romanko Tours Germany

Romanko will tour Germany from October 3rd to 26th beginning
with a concert in the Erndtebrück Church. This will be followed
by a variety of church concerts in Munich, Ahlen, Cologne, Trossingen,

Stas Venglevski with Doc Severinsen - USA

Although
originally from the Republic of Moldova (now living in Wisconsin),
the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Doc Severinsen
was eager to claim Stas
Venglevski as one of their residents, as he was selected as
a participant in the orchestra's recent series of concerts which
paid tribute to 'Wisconsin' Talent.
Effervescent Principal Pops Conductor, Doc Severinsen,
lit up the stage with the Pops season opener as he shared the stage
with local stars that celebrate Wisconsin's rich heritage.
Stas, a most talented accordionist and entertaining
personality, who has performed with Doc and the Milwaukee Symphony
Orchestra in the past, was again a favorite of the many thousands
who attended the concerts.

National Accordion Competition "Note d'oro"
- Italy
The 2nd National Accordion Competition "Note
d'oro" (Golden notes) was held in Soro on September 21st. The
jury included Vladimir
Zubitsky (President), A. Capuano, R. Tepore, P. Rozzi and G.
Pica.

Accordionist Performs in Opera - Norway
Accordionist Frode Haltli will perform in the
opera "No Title Performance and Sparkling Water" by Maja
Solveig Kjelstrup Ratkje and Siw Merete Mikalsen. The performance
is part of the Ultima Festival in Henie-Onstad, Oslo from October
2nd to 5th.
On October 9th Haltli will perform a Concerto
for accordion and orchestra (by Joyce Bee Tuan Koh) with the Stavanger
Symfoniorkester, conducted by Susanna Melki.

2003 Kolo Festival - USA
The 2003 Kolo Festival will be held at the San
Francisco Russian Center from November 27th to 29th. The event will
include a variety of folkdance classes, folkdance parties with continuous
live music, Culture Corners, and entertainment.
Performers include "Anoush" (South
Balkan & Greek music), "Top Dog Run" (accordionist
Lisa Ekstrom), and "Edessa" (accordionist Lise Liepman).
