25th Anniversary Celebrations - Russia
Contributed by Boris Plotnikov
On
February 20th, Siberian bayanist Sergey Naiko held a recital at
the local Philharmonic concert hall to celebrate the 25th anniversary
of his performing career and the 20th anniversary of employment
at the Krasnoyarsk Academy of Music and Theater (Russia).
Professor and Honored Artist of Russian Federation,
Sergey Naiko is well known for his accomplishments, having completed
90 concert tours in Siberia, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk,
Kiev, Harbin and Beijing (China), Germany, Slovakia and elsewhere.
The
jubilee recital was an important event in the cultural activities
of Krasnoyarsk. Naiko's merits were described publicly as "lightning
fast fingers", "fantastically fine control of bellows
is a real wonder", "timbres palette is marvelous - even
with only one register utilized at one time". Naiko performed
many contemporary music pieces composed specially for the bayan,
by Chaikin, Repnikov, Zubitsky,
Banshchikov, Nagayev, Meremnkulov, Gubaidulina and others.
During the recital Naiko paid tribute to I.
Panitsky, one of Russia's prominent arrangers of bayan folk songs
from the middle of the 20th century. Then, with profound emotion,
he played Partita and Spaniada (Zolotaryov). This was followed by
a number of works by Couperin, Rameau, Scarlatti, Mozart and Borodin.
Many pieces from Naiko's repertoire (including
Bach's Toccata, Adagio and Fugue in C Major, Chromatische Fantasie,
Seven Preludes and Fugues from WTC, Piano Concerto in D minor, and
many others) have been arranged or edited by him for multi-timbral
bayan. These are also available in the form of printed professional
Finale scores. For details email: boriplot@vsptus.ru
