Accordion Festival - England
The
London Accordion Festival will take place on December 8th & 9th
at the Wembley Conference Centre in London. Festival goers will
be treated to a variety of entertainment by international and local
performers such as Gervasio Marcosignori, Vladimir
Zubitsky, Frederic
Deschamps, Owen
Murray, Simone
Zanchini/Hallo Mr. Sax, Jack Emblow, Frank Marocco, Corrado
Medioli, Romano Viazzani, Gary
Blair, David Lukins, David
Farmer, Jean Pierre Goncalves Lima, Veli and Susanne Kujala,
Mauro Carra, Vincenzo
Abbracciante, Djordje Gajic, Jerome
Richard, Marielle
Roy, KODA, The Czardas Duo, The High Society Dance Orchestra
and students of the Royal Academy of Music.
On December 7th the "Czardas Duo" (which includes
accordionist Ian Watson) will play and talk about the festival on

New Accordion Festival - Finland

On November 16th and 17th a new accordion festival
"Accordion Days in Spirit of Kuhmo" was held in Tammisaari, South-West
Finland. The event included three main concerts with performances
by accordionists Jukka-Pekka Kuusela, Kalle Välimaa (Artistic Director)
and flutist Riitta Saikkonen. Their programmes included works by
Gagnidze, Derbenko, Piazzolla, Jokinen, Trojan, Lundquist, Holminov,
Scarlatti, Franck and Mendelssohn. In addition the world premiere
of "The Sunset of Our Time" (for two accordions by Finnish composer
Juha Jokelainen) was performed.
Over 30 young musicians took part in work shops
given by Kalle Välimaa (chamber music) and Jukka-Pekka Kuusela (solo
repertoire). The festival was so successful, another is planned

Bolkovski 60th Birthday Celebrations - Russia
On November 30th a concert took place at the Palace
of Youth, Ekaterinburg, Ural in honour of Leonid Bolkovski's 60th birthday.
Forty years ago, he was a founder and the first conductor of the accordion
orchestra "Bayanists of Ekaterinburg", which under his direction has participated
in many Russian and International competitions and festivals, as well
as performing many concerts in Russia and touring internationally to Greece,

Accordionists at Santa Parade -
New Zealand

The North Shore Accordion Orchestra (conducted
by Lionel
Reekie) performed at the recent annual Santa Parade in Auckland.
An audience of over 40,000 children and adults enjoyed their varied
program, which included "Radetsky March" and "Snoopy's Christmas".
A few days later the orchestra entertained at
the Hillsborough Village with a variety of solo and orchestral pieces.
