First Accordion Meeting in Trento
- Italy
Contributed
by Carlo Fortunato
The first edition of the "Trento Inter-regional
Accordion Meeting" was held on October 21st at the concert theatre
of the Fly Music centre in Besenello di Trento. The event attracted
several young performers from the regions of Trentino, Veneto and
Friuli who played a variety of jazz, folk and classical music. Guests
included Tiziano Chiappelli, winner of the Castelfidardo
competition, Germano Campagnola, young accordionist Luigi Guerra
and Romeo Aichino from Vercelli, whose performance had a distinct
French flavour.
The meeting resulted (among other things) in
the decision to open an accordion school, directed by Tiziano Chiappelli,
which will cover both the basic and advanced stages and will revolve
mainly around the jazz genre. The large and appreciative audience
testimonied to the success of yet another initiative for the promotion
of the accordion in Italy.
