2012 Harbin China Summer International Accordion Art Week Contest ArticlesTo further promote the development of accordion career in China and select excellent international accordion players, "International Accordion Contest of the 31th China·Harbin Summer Concert International Accordion Art Week", hosted by PRC Culture Ministry and Harbin Municipal People's Government, undertaken by Harbin Normal College, will be held in Harbin, "the capital of music" on Aug.7-10, 2012, and the aim is to select top international accordion players. At that time, the professionals and scholars from all countries in the world will gather in Harbin, coming to appreciate the essence of accordion art altogether.I. Group Category in Contest and Track Requirement1. Children Group:(1)Children Group A (Born after August 31, 2002)Preliminary: Choose 1or 2 melodies at random, which can be foreign or Chinese; the performance shall not be over 6 minutes. Final: Choose 1 or 2 melodies at random, which can be foreign or Chinese; the performance shall not be over 8 minutes. The same melody can be performed in the preliminary and the final. (2)Children Group B (Born between September 1, 1998 and August 31, 2002) Preliminary: Choose 1or 2 melodies at random, which can be foreign or Chinese; the performance shall not be over 8 minutes. Final: Choose 1or 2 melodies at random, which can be foreign or Chinese; the performance shall not be over 8 minutes. The melody can be performed in the preliminary and the final. 2. Juvenile Group:(Born between September 1,1996 and August 31, 1998)(1)Juvenile Group A(Traditional Bass) Preliminary: 1.(including two-part)A polyphony above Bach two-part. 2. Choose 1or 2 melodies at random (which can be foreign or Chinese). Note:The performance shall not be over 8 minutes. Final: Choose the melody different from the one in the preliminary; if there are more than 2 melodies, their styles shall differ from each other, in one of which the technique shall be outstanding, and the performance shall not be over 15 minutes. (2)Juvenile Group B(Free Bass) Preliminary: 1.(including two-part)A polyphony above Bach two-part. 2. Choose 1 or 2 melodies at random (which can be foreign or Chinese). Adult Group:(Born before August 31, 1993) (2)Adult Group B (Traditional Bass Group):Accordion teachers or lovers of normal colleges, art colleges, music education major of music colleges, art department or academy of comprehensive university, art gallery and the children's palace (not including the teachers and students of music performance major of music colleges). Preliminary of Group A: Choose 2 or 3 melodies of different styles, and the performance shall not be over 15 minutes. Final of Group A: Group B: Choose the melody at random, and the performance shall not be over 20 minutes. 5. Performer Group:(Born before August 31, 1994)Preliminary: 1. A polyphony above Bach three-part (including three-part) 2. A lyric work 3. A technical work Note:The performance shall not be over 20 minutes. Final: 1. A Scarlatti sonata 2. A big-scale work (sonata, variations, suite, etc.), choose other work at random or choose none (different from the preliminary) Note: the performance shall not be over 30 minutes. 6. Indoor Music Group:(Note: There is only 1 round, unlimited by age)In the ensemble, the accordion is the chief instrument. Choose the melody at random, and the performance shall not exceed 20 minutes. 8. Popular Music Group:(1)Group below 18 (Born after September 1, 1993) (2)Group above 18(Born before August 31, 1993) 9. Electronic Accordion Group:(Born before August 31, 1996)Choose the melody at random, the number unlimited, and the performance shall not exceed 15 minutes. It's not allowed to use the instrumentals. II. Award Arrangement and PremiumIn each group, 4 awards including gold, silver, bronze and honorable mention are set up respectively, grant the trophy or the certificate. In the performer group, the premium of gold award is 1500 US dollars, silver award 1000 US dollars, bronze award 500 US dollars.III. Entry Fee200 Yuan for children group and juvenile group, 300 Yuan for youth group, adult group, performer group, popular music group, electronic accordion group and ensemble group A, 400 Yuan for ensemble group B and indoor music group.The competitor can remit by local post office (Don't put money in the envelope in remitting in case of losing), and indicate the competitor's name and group category in the contest on the money order. Registration Date and ModeRegistration Mode: Download the application form on the on-line website of Chinese accordion( www.accordions.com/china/index.shtml), fill it and issue the form to: gjbs2012@126.com, then post the application form, two 2-inch photos and the copies of effective ID certificate (residence booklet, ID card and passport) to the Organization Committee Office of 2012 China Harbin Summer International Accordion Art Week; the address is on the above.Application Date:May 1- Jul. 1, 2012 V. Contest Points1. The contest sequence is decided by the result of drawings of each group.2. The competitors of each group shall perform with no score. If the melody does not conform to the demand of the article, the organization committee has the right to cancel the contest qualification. 3. If the contest melody exceeds the requisite time, the judge has the right to ask for the stop, which will not affect the contest marks. If the melody is too short (not reaching two thirds of stipulated time), the marks will be affected. 4. The contest marks of each group will be posted publicly after each round of contest to show justice. 5. The competitors entering the quarter-final will bring the preliminary marks into the quarter-final, the preliminary marks and the quarter-final marks accounting for 50% respectively. 6. The judges are composed of well-known scholars and professors domestic and abroad. 7. The awarded competitors shall be obliged to take part in the award ceremony and the concert of awarded competitors; otherwise he will lose the award qualification. 8.
